The
Impact of Our Effort and Goodwill
“RBC made a difference in 2007”
Through RBC, its subsidiaries and the RBC
Foundation, we are committed to donating at least one percent
of our average annual net income before taxes, based on a
five-year average. We donated $47.7 million worldwide in 2007 alone.

Review RBC’s philanthropic strategy to understand
how we are inspired to give.

“It’s in our roots…..”
Donations are an important cornerstone of our community
programs. Our tradition of philanthropy dates back to our
roots, with donations on record as far back as 1891, when
a mining explosion in Springhill Nova Scotia, killed 125
men. We contributed $250 to the relief fund, and are now
one of Canada’s largest corporate donors, contributing
to communities across North America.

“Support of United Way….”
RBC is the largest private sector contributor
to United Way in Canada, where we are one of only 53 organizations
that contribute over $1 million annually.
In 2007, RBC seconded
or loaned 14 employees to work full-time on local United
Way campaigns across Canada.

Every year, we
continue to be overwhelmed by the level of financial
and volunteer support that RBC Financial Group employees
commits to the Greater Toronto Area, as well as every
corner of Canada
