RBC is involved in partnerships, initiatives and sponsorships to promote the growth of social finance in Canada. As a financial services company, RBC plays a role in helping create an environment where new and innovative companies can succeed in addressing social and environmental challenges.
MaRS Centre for Impact Investing: The Centre, launched in late 2011, is designed to increase awareness of social finance and direct new capital and talent to tackle social and environmental problems in Canada. RBC’s $1 million, five-year commitment funds educational and advisory programs for investors, financial advisors, social enterprises, as well as the development of models, tools, products, research and services to create and measure positive social and environmental impact.
Canadian Responsible Investment Conference: RBC sponsored the 2013 Canadian Responsible Investment Conference in Vancouver, hosted by the Social Investment Organization (SIO). This year’s theme, Engaging for Change, explored the role of stakeholders in building sustainable financial markets.
FounderFuel Demo Day: RBC sponsored the 2013 FounderFuel Demo Day, the culminating event of the FounderFuel program. This event involved 20 startup companies pitching to an audience of investors, members of the press and the startup community in efforts to secure financing for their startup.
Green Living Business Forum: RBC was a gold sponsor of the 2013 Green Living Business Forum, which featured CBC’s host of Power & Politics, Evan Solomon and more than 500 of Canada’s top corporate leaders.
Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN): In late 2012, RBC became a founding member of GIIN, a group of global organizations dedicated to increasing the scale and effectiveness of impact investing. GIIN membership provides information and access to organizations active in impact investing.
