RBC donates $100,000 in support of brain research

September 30, 2013 - RBC has donated $100,000 to Brain Canada in support of a series of parlour meetings in five cities across Canada, intended to help experts in the field share knowledge and generate ideas between scientists and the public.

In addition to supporting the parlour meetings, the RBC donation will fund media and communications training for the scientists to help them explain their work. The five cities include Halifax, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.

Brain Canada funds research that unlocks the complexities of the brain to improve diagnostics, treatments and cures for brain disorders. Brain Canada has developed a national research program that supports areas with the greatest research potential and need that are currently under or not funded.

Since 2001, RBC has donated $882,500 to Brain Canada.

RBC supports a broad range of community initiatives through donations, sponsorships and employee volunteer activities. In 2012, we contributed more than $95 million to causes worldwide, including donations and community investments of more than $64 million and $31 million in sponsorships.
