RBC Blue Water Project supports One Night for ONE DROP
A Cirque du Soleil celebration in honour of World Water Day 2013

March 22 is World Water Day--and we’re proud to announce that our very first RBC Blue Water Project grant recipient, ONE DROP, is having a spectacular fundraising event to celebrate.

ONE DROP is a charitable organization founded by Cirque du Soleil creator Guy Laliberté to help ensure people around the world have fresh water. To mark World Water Day, Cirque is planning a once-in-a-lifetime event featuring performers from all seven of its Las Vegas shows, with “One Night for ONE DROP”, a show all about water. The show will be broadcast online for seven days beginning March 24, for a donation of $5 or more.
RBC is the founding corporate partner of ONE DROP in 2007, with a commitment of $10 million over ten years, including funding for the following projects:

  • $1.5 million for a watershed protection and conservation project in Honduras
  • $1 million to help restore small hydraulic and sanitation infrastructures in Haiti
  • $1.1 million to raise awareness and improve access to clean drinking water in Orissa, one of India’s poorest regions.

The RBC Blue Water Project is an historic, wide-ranging, 10-year global commitment to help protect the world’s most precious natural resource: fresh water. Since 2007, RBC has pledged over $36 million to more than 500 charitable organizations worldwide that protect watersheds and promote access to clean drinking water, with an additional $6 million pledged to universities for water programs. In 2013-2014, the RBC Blue Water Project will focus on supporting initiatives that help protect water in towns, cities and urbanized areas.  For further information, visit www.rbc.com/bluewater.
