RBC Brings Home Three Excellence in Corporate Responsibility Awards

RBC’s Shari Austin Presented with Outstanding Achievement Award

Toronto, ON, January 15, 2015 -   Whether committing to reducing GHG emissions in our global operations or protecting fresh water by funding projects that help protect urban water resources, RBC continues to be recognized by industry peers for our corporate responsibility initiatives.

At Canada’s fourth annual Excellence in Corporate Responsibility (ECR) held on Wednesday November 26, 2014 in Toronto, RBC was the recipient of not one, but three Excellence in Corporate Responsibility (ECR) Awards.

The Blue Water Project team won an ECR award in the Water Conservation/Security category for their boundless and ongoing efforts around our ten-year, $50 million, global commitment to help protect freshwater and the continuing success of RBC Blue Water Day.  RBC also won an ECR Award in the Greenhouse Gas Reduction (GHG) category for our work in supporting commitments to reduce energy and GHG emissions in our operations and promote the growth of renewable energy.

The ECR’s Outstanding Achievement Award was presented to Shari Austin, VP of Corporate Citizenship and Executive Director of the RBC Foundation. The award, the event’s most prestigious prize, recognizes an individual’s body of work dedicated to creating sustainable environmental and ethical practices in business.

The ECR awards were developed by Green Living Enterprises and were designed to celebrate Canadians and Canadian organizations who are transforming business practices to create sustainable social and environmental change.

RBC contributed more than $100 million in 2014 to causes that will have a positive and lasting social, economic and environmental impact for generations to come. We are actively involved with charitable organizations around the world and we support our employees in their volunteering efforts.
