ONE DROP making a splash with 80,000 Canadian youth

In the fall of 2012, two of RBC’s most significant charitable partners, ONE DROP and Free the Children, came together in support of a single cause: water.

Over 80,000 teens in cities across Canada were asked to do one thing in support of water as part of We Day, an event organized by Free the Children in cities across Canada—and were inspired to do so through a thrilling aerial performance by Cirque du Soleil artists. This performance was courtesy of ONE DROP, launched by Cirque du Soleil founder, Guy Laliberté, to help bring attention to the world’s water problems. Inspired by the circus arts, this We Day performance asked young people to answer "What is YOUR one drop?", or, what would be their contribution to help water. The aerial silk performance can be seen at www.onedrop.org/youth (opens external website in new window).

The RBC Blue Water Project was a founding partner of ONE DROP, and has donated more than $4.2 million to support the organizations in its mission since 2008. RBC became a national sponsor Free the Children, presenting We Days across Canada in 2012.
