Finance Management Development Program (FMDP)

The goal of this program is to create a pipeline of talent for future finance succession planning, at a leadership level. In this rotational program you will gain an overview of the RBC finance organization globally, obtaining the experience necessary to thrive in senior roles and explore the challenges of working on complex financial issues, often with senior finance executives. As part of a team of specialized finance professionals, you will learn from experience in a series of assignments and make your mark by providing sound financial governance and advice to internal business partners and external stakeholders in a complex, multi-GAAP, multinational environment, supporting business decisions, and financial analyses and reporting.

You will have the opportunity to apply your recent Masters level education while you tackle challenging projects that are critical to our multiple global businesses and act as advisor for various business units. Some of the potential finance responsibilities you may experience include budgeting, reporting and policy management, monthly financial reporting, quarter-end forecasting, pricing analysis, financial monitoring, profit and loss model development for key portfolios or initiatives and G/L integrity reviews. Your initiative and the desire to solve complex financial problems will ensure your success as you apply your cross-enterprise mindset and basic understanding of accounting and financial theory to our practical working environment.

This two-year program consists of four rotations of six months. These rotations will be held in either a finance head office unit or within a finance business unit and may include areas such as Investor Relations, Performance Management, Capital Markets Finance, Enterprise Decision Support, Wealth Management etc. During the second year of the program you may have the opportunity to complete a global assignment. This program is highly competitive. We recommend you differentiate yourself and profile your transferrable skills.

We begin the recruitment for this program in September of each year and will have application details available at that time.
