Easy Access to Your Money
At every stage of your life in Canada, it's important
to have easy access to funds. Our accounts provide convenience
and flexibility by giving you access to your money in
several different ways.
Your RBC Royal Bank Client Card is the Key
When you open an account, you’ll be given an
RBC Royal Bank Client Card and asked to select a Personal
Identification Number (PIN). Together, they allow
you to access your money in a variety of convenient
ways:
Online — From any computer with Internet access, you can log on and pay bills, schedule automatic payments, transfer money, view your online accounts from other financial institutions and review and print account activity. Plus, you can access a range of helpful features and tools, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Over the phone — RBC Royal Bank Telephone Banking allows you to easily access your financial information and make transactions any time, from anywhere in the world, by following the simple, interactive voice prompts.
At an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) — You can carry out transactions at any RBC Royal Bank ATM, at other banks’ ATMs that have the INTERAC® logo and at ATMs outside of Canada that have the PLUS System* symbol. Most ATMs are accessible 24 hours a day.
At any RBC Royal Bank branch in Canada — You can deposit and withdraw money, pay most bills and transfer funds in person at any RBC Royal Bank branch.
With Direct Debit Payment — Pay for purchases directly from your account at businesses that display the INTERAC® logo in Canada. If you’re travelling outside of Canada, ask the individual merchantif direct debit is available.
Your PIN Provides Added Security
Your four-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN),
which you select, is known only to you. It plays an
important role in keeping your accounts safe. Be sure
to protect both your PIN and your Client Card:
- Never tell anyone your PIN — not bank employees,
law enforcement agencies, friends or family members.
- Memorize your PIN instead of writing it down.
- Shield the keypad when entering your PIN to keep
it confidential.
- If you suspect that someone knows your PIN,
immediately change it at an RBC Royal Bank branch
or at selected RBC Royal Bank ATMs.
- Check your bank statements and balance regularly
to verify all transactions.
- If your card is lost or stolen, contact your branch
immediately.
Cheques Provide Extra Flexibility
Personal cheques are a convenient way to make a payment
from your bank account when cash or a credit card isn’t
appropriate — for example, when paying your monthly
rent.
If you use a cheque to purchase an item in a store,
the vendor may request your phone number and photo identification.
Cheques are necessary if you wish to set up automatic
payments for utilities and services from your bank account.
To set up an automatic payment:
- Complete the form provided by the utility company.
- Strike a line across the face of the cheque,
and print the word “void.”
- Do not sign the cheque.
- Submit the form and the void cheque to the utility
company.
You can order cheques at your RBC Royal Bank branch
or online.
TIP: Personal cheques,
which can be ordered with your name, address and phone
number printed on them, help to show you have a permanent
Canadian address.
