TORONTO, June 10, 2019 - In recognition of his outstanding achievements as a leader in supplier diversity, Kiruba Sankar has been honoured with the 2019 LGBT+ Supplier Diversity Program Ambassador of the Year Award by the Canadian Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC).

The award was presented on behalf of the CGLCC and Kellogg Company to Mr. Kiruba Sankar, Global Leader – Corporate Social Responsibilities of RBC Global Procurement at the 2019 LGBT+ Global Business Summit on May 31, 2019 in Toronto.

“The Summit was an opportunity to connect and support LGBT+ entrepreneurs who are helping to shape and drive our economy through sustainable social change,” says Kiruba. “I believe it is important to live out our values in every aspect of our lives and work.”

The 2019 LGBT Supplier Diversity Program Ambassador of the Year Award recognizes Kiruba’s mission to champion the growth and advancement of the LGBT+ business sector.

Kiruba actively promotes supplier diversity both internally within RBC as well as externally with RBC’s new and ongoing supplier base. He is being recognized for encouraging and supporting other corporations in developing and implementing a supplier diversity program. Kiruba regularly participates in CGLCC Supplier Diversity events, in CGLCC corporate roundtables, and in providing ongoing input into the growth of the CGLCC Supplier Diversity program.

Kiruba is also an active participant on the CGLCC Procurement Advisory Council. He was a contributor to the first ever LGBTQ2 trade mission to the US last year, and he continues to support CGLCC in its Supplier Diversity advocacy work at the federal government level.

This award is presented to an individual, group, organization or corporation who’ve displayed outstanding efforts in raising awareness and support of the LGBT+ Supplier Diversity Program (“Program”) in Canada.
