RBC named one of Canada’s “Best 50 Corporate Citizens”

TORONTO, June 22, 2010 - Today, RBC was named as one of the "Best 50 Corporate Citizens" in Canada, based on an evaluation of the environmental, social and governance performance of Canada's leading companies by Corporate Knights magazine.

This ranking, based on publicly available information, scores companies across a variety of indicators, including taxes paid, pension fund health, board diversity and independence, and executive compensation. In addition, financial services companies were rated on the proportion of sustainable assets under management. These sector-specific key performance indicators acknowledge that companies can use their core competencies to better society.

This honour adds to an impressive suite of recognition garnered by RBC for programs and performance related to sustainability and corporate responsibility.

RBC is recognized among the world's financial, social and environmental leaders and is listed on the 2009-2010 Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the DJSI North American Index. RBC has been named one of Canada's Greenest Employers, one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers, one of Canada's 50 Most Socially Responsible Corporations and one of the Best Workplaces in Canada. RBC is also listed on the Jantzi Social Index, the FTSE4Good Index, and the Canadian Carbon Disclosure Project Leadership Index.
