January 21, 2010 – RBC has received the prestigious 2010 Catalyst Award, an annual global award given to companies with an exceptional commitment to diversity. Catalyst is the leading nonprofit membership organization working globally with businesses to build inclusive workplaces.
"We have worked hard to embed diversity in our culture and in how we do business, and everyone at RBC can be justly proud of this recognition," said Gordon Nixon, RBC president and chief executive officer. "Diversity and inclusion are central to RBC's success. Having a diverse workforce and leadership - across all levels, in all areas - enriches our organization, allows us to understand our clients better, and helps to generate innovative ideas and solutions."
RBC was recognized for how we integrate market, community and employee actions and considerations to embed diversity in our strategies. The Catalyst organization looked specifically at progress over 2005-2009 in our businesses in Canada and saw an integrated approach that includes our talent management practices, our presence in diverse markets and our leadership in the broader corporate environment.
"These initiatives exemplify our Catalyst vision -'Changing workplaces. Changing lives'," said Ilene H. Lang, president and chief executive officer of Catalyst. "They impact the lives of employees, families, and communities by transforming organizations, and serve as models that inspire and encourage others to embrace inclusive workplaces that benefit women, men, and business."
